Rust, Moisture & Mold at the Baseboard — What It Means
Rust staining on baseboards is a red flag for ongoing moisture. When water sits at floor level—often from leaks, condensation, or prior water damage—it can wick into surrounding materials, leading to hidden microbial growth behind the wall or beneath flooring.
In this case, our inspection identified moisture impact at the baseboard, visible corrosion, and conditions consistent with mold growth. We performed comprehensive mold testing and developed a state-compliant mold remediation protocol for the customer, outlining proper containment, material removal, cleaning methods, and post-remediation verification requirements.
Having a written protocol ensures remediation is done correctly, safely, and in compliance—protecting both the property and the occupants.
