Can mold grow on treated wood???
As shown in the photo, yes, mold can grow on treated wood under certain conditions.
While treated wood is generally resistant to rot and insect damage, it isn’t entirely mold-proof. Mold needs moisture, warmth, and a food source (organic material) to grow. If treated wood is exposed to consistent moisture, high humidity, or poor ventilation, mold spores can settle and grow on the wood’s surface. The chemicals used in treating wood can slow down mold growth but don’t prevent it entirely, especially if the conditions are favorable for mold.
To prevent mold on treated wood:
– Ensure proper ventilation.
– Minimize moisture exposure.
– Consider applying a mold-resistant sealant.
– Clean any visible mold growth promptly with a mild bleach solution or a commercial mold remover.
