Mold Remediation Process
If mold is present in your home, you may be wondering what the process of removing it looks like from start to finish. Here is a general outline of the standard process after mold is discovered:
1. Mold Assessment/Inspection and Testing: A licensed Mold Assessor performs an inspection, takes samples to send to the lab for testing, and identifies damaged areas.
2. Mold Remediation Protocol: A licensed Mold Assessor provides a written mold remediation protocol. This is essentially an outline of how the mold should be removed from the home that is provided, The state of Florida requires that a protocol is provided when more than 10 sq ft of mold is present.
3. Remediation Occurs: A licensed Mold Remediator/Company physically removes the mold based on the protocol provided. The state of Florida also mandates that the Mold Assessor who writes the protocol CANNOT be the Mold Remediator who carries out the demo.
4. Post Remediation Verification: Once remediation is fully complete, a licensed Mold Assessor returns to perform an inspection and take additional samples for testing to verify the mold remediation was successful and completed correctly.
5. Build Back/Restoration: When the PRV testing is complete and clearance is issued, a contractor is able to replace the removed drywall or building materials and restore your home back to a healthy, beautiful state.
